The Lorax: Review & Giveaway
It is amazing to me that even though we own many (and I mean many) Dr. Seuss' books, we do not own The Lorax. How is that even possible? If you think that's bad, when the movie came out in theaters I had plans to take the kids. It never happened. Sad, I know. Then I received an email asking if I wanted to review the movie. Well...YEA!
Oh am I glad we did. I loved the movie, the kids loved the movie, we all LOVED the movie! It arrived at the most perfect time too, the day before we headed out on our one week vacation on a lovely resort up in the mountains. Two mamas and four kids. Yup, I sure took that DVD with us. It came out on one of those night when the kids had had enough and so had we (to be honest). We popped some popcorn and hit play.
The original intent was for the kids to watch it while we caught up on some vacation planing and a bit of relaxation without the kids driving us crazy, but both my friend an I ended up watching the movie along with the kids. Keeping away from that screen was hard. The story is a beautiful one, the message even better.
A kid with big dreams (and not a very nice family) begins to cut tree after tree. Driven by ambition and push of his selfish family he then clears every single tree. All gone. In the mean time the Lorax, a cute big mustached creature, appears to him when he cuts the first tree warning him and reminding him of the importance of keeping the trees alive. The Lorax's warning and tricks don't seem to work. Finally, after all the trees are cut, the Lorax and all the animals leave to find a new home. Then other things begin to happen and there is a turn of events. But I won't tell the rest, because then how fun would it be if I shared with you the entire movie? A must see really.
What was that? You want to see it now? I don't blame you.
Well here is a chance for you to win one of two The Lorax DVDs and activity bags, with some fun kits included. How fun is that?!

We recycle our cans and water bottles, don't leave the water running and we reuse by donating clothes we don't fit or like anymore and we also buy from thrift stores to continue the cycle of living a semi-green life :)
ReplyDeleteMy family and I, recycle our cans, bottles, and glass. We also have a garden in our backyard. Carina Widman carinawidman@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteTo make things a little greener...we like to recycle what we can, paper, aluminum, etc. Thanks. We love the Lorax! Patricia. yellow_patricia at hotmail dot com
ReplyDeleteJust the other day we did something that I was pretty proud of. We took our kids to the playground in our subdivision, which we hadn't been to in a while, and noticed there was garbage everywhere. Apparently other parents aren't telling their kids to clean up after themselves. It was appalling and sad to see bottles and wrappers all over the ground, with an empty garbage can just a few feet away. We came back home and grabbed some trash bags and gloves and went back with our kids to pick up all the garbage. Our kids were really proud of themselves and I was proud of them, too!

We make sure to remind the kids to turn off lights and water when not in use. We reuse many of our bags also and sometimes repurpose boxes.

ReplyDeleteThanks for this fun giveaway!
We recycle (have different bins for glass, paper, etc.) and every weekend we go out and clean the yard from any fly away garbage; water grass (if needed).

To name a few: This mommy loves to repurpose, so I repurpose boxes, tp rolls, glass jars, packing boxes and so much more. As a family we recycle the normal items, watch our water usage, lights off whenever possible, keep things unplugged that are not being regularly used, organic garden, use vinegar or other cleaner things instead of yucky chemicals as much as possible (still working on). We just recently purchased a mini solar panel for charging usb items and will be looking into expanding that idea for our sheds. Rakell H
ReplyDeleteWe garden, recycle, reuse and repurpose things to avoid buying new. We shop at the farmers market and try to walk everywhere we can. Thanks for this giveaway!

We also recycle, we use re-usable lunch bags and sandwich holders. We use sealable snack cups to reduce our need for plastic bags as often as we can. We were inspired by a friend and make crafts out of recycled materials. The boys bathe together (granted, that might be more for MY ease than the planet's benefit, lol!). We don't run water longer than necessary. We would love to win the Lorax gift pack! Maureen Jerseymo@yahoo.com
