Books we love :: Libros que nos facinan leer.

It's such a gloomy day today. I hate gloomy days. Days like these make we want to curl up with a cup of tea and book, throw a warm blanket over my shoulders and do nothing. Of course that is never the case. There are always a million of things I need to do or want to do and if I happen to actually sit and read for a while, I then feel guilty. Guilty for not getting much accomplished. Hijole! Do you ever feel this way? Or am I the only crazy mami feeling this way? My best friend tells me often I need to learn to be "still." I need to be still, I just don' t know how. Help.
:: Hoy es un dia gris y frio. Me chocan los dias a si. Dias como estos quisiera pasarmela sentada tomando una tazita de te y leyendo mis libros favoritos. Pero claro eso raro sucede, pues siempre tengo miles de cosas por hacer o que quiero hacer, y si por alguna razo si me siento y leeo, luego me siento mal por averlo echo en vez todas las otras cosas que tenia que hacer. Hijole! Alguna vez se han sentido a si? O soy you la unica mami loquita que se siente a si? Mi mejor amiga siempre me dice que tengo que a aprender a estar tranquila. Necesito estar tranquila, pero no se como. Ayudenme.




On onother note. Though I may not find much time to read for me, I defenitely do a lot of reading for the kids. We love our books around here. I especially love books that are bilingual (English/Spanish), spanglish (a mix of both languages in the same sentences) and yes those that are all in Spanish. We also have a great collection of English books, but I figured kids books in English are easy to find, those in Spanish or biligual are not. I know I have a hard time finding them around where I live and that is why I decided to share with you a lits of books we love to read around here. Plenty are in our collection, some we check out of the library and we plan to add more and more (you can never have too many books). I apologize if the current list only has the title and author. I'm still new to this whole bloggin thing. As soon as I figure out how to add book photos and direct links to where you can buy them, I will do that for you.
:: Cambiando de tema. Aunque no encotrare mucho tiempo para leer para mi misma, definitivamente siempre le stoy leyendo a mis nenes. Nos facinan los libros por aca. Especialmente todos los que son bilingues (Ingles/ Espanol), esos que tienen la combinacion de ambos idiomas en cada horacion o simplemente estan todo en Espanol. Claro que tambien tenemos muy buena colleccion de libros en Ingles, pero esos son facil de encontrar. Por lo cual decidi empezar una lista de nuestros libros favoritos. Libros que tenemos, nos prestan de la biblioteca o queremos comprar. Estos solo son unos cuantos, en cuanto tenga mas tiempo (y encuentre los libros que estan por todas partes de la casa) seguire llenando la lista. Tambien me disculpo de ante mano por que mi lista solo tiene el titulo y autor del libro. Todavia estoy aprendiendo como anadir cosas en el blog. En cuanto aprenda les pondre fotos y links (conecciones) en donde pueden conseguir los libros.

Signs of Spring :: Senales de Primavera

Spring is finally here! The colors, the beauty, the feeling of rebirth and all new. I love it.
:: La primavera a llegado. Los colores, la hermosura, el sentimiento de renacer y de todo lo nuevo. Como me gusta.

Was it just yesterday... :: Que no fue ayer...

That my baby boy R was born? I can't believe he just turned three! That little bundle of joy that changed my world. That has filled my life with more love, more laughter and more hugs and kisses that I could have ever imagined. He is three. He is no longer a baby boy, but a sweet-energetic-talkative-loving-tender three year old little boy. My three year old. That I love all the way to the moon and back (and more).
::Que nació mi lindo bebe R? No puedo creer que cumplió 3 añitos! Ese bebe precioso que cambio mi mundo. Que a llenado mi vida con mas amor, mas risas y mas abrazos y besos de los que yo pudiera imaginar. Cumplió tres. Ya no es un bebe, si no un niño dulce-energético-platicador-cariñoso y tierno. Mi pequeño. Al que quiero hasta la luna y de vuelta (y mucho mas).



I decided to make his party all about Dinosaurs (he is very interested in them right now). So I baked a cake, and decorated it with some cool dinosaur toys I found at a local Wal-Mart. I was getting a bit worried because I had not found any at any party or baking supply store, and when I saw these at the store it just made my day. I know is not even close to a professional looking cake, but one things I can assure you is that it was made with lots of love. I figured, I have plenty of years ahead to improve my cake decorating. Unless I find a peanut/nut free bakery near by, I am stuck baking his cakes and enjoying every bit of it.
::Decidí decorar todo de dinosaurios, pues es algo que le interesa mucho a el. Entonces le hice su pastelito, lo decore con unos dinosaurios que encontré en una Wal-Mart. Ya me habia desanimado, pues no encotraba nada para decorar su pastel. Cuando vi estos animalitos en la tienda me puse super contenta. Yo se que no se ve nada profesional el pastel, pero una cosa si les puedo decir es que los hice con mucho amor. Al cabo tengo mucho pero mucho tiempo por delante para mejorar mis pasteles, pues apenad de que encuentra una pastelería que no preparen nada con nueces o cacahuetes, yo continuare haciéndole sus pastelitos.



This are the little goody bags little R and I made days before his birthday party . I just got some lunch bags. Cut out some dinosaur shapes, decorated them with cut out circles and wiggly eyes. And filled them with lots of dinasour related goodies and healthy treats.
::Estas bolsitas son las que pasamos para los niños en la fiesta. Mi pequeño R y yo las hicimos días antes de la fiesta. Cortamos figuras de dinosaurios, les pegamos bolitas y ojitos que se mueven y las llenamos de cositas que tenían que ver con dinosaurios y para comer cosas nutritivas.

I can't wait to see what three brings. More love? hugs? kisses? Yes, and lost, lots more!

Espero con ansias ver que es lo que (tres) me traerá. Mas amor? abrazos? besos? Si, eso y mucho, mucho mas!

Getting Ready :: Preparandonos

It's been just about five years of me saying I will start a veggie garden and for one reason or another I don't. Then a few weeks back, R gets home with seeds in hand. His nice way of saying- stop saying and start doing. Whatever the case maybe, I am happy he did.
:: Ya tengo mucho tiempo diciendo que voy a plantar un jardín de verduras y por alguana razon u otra, no lo he echo. Hace unas cuantas semanas atras R llego a casa con varios paquetitos de semillas (su manera de decir- ya para de pensar y empieza a hacer). Cual sea el caso, estoy contenta de que lo haya echo.

So we took advantage of the few days of perfect weather we had and started preparing for the summer. Little R and A really enjoyed planting seeds in egg cartons. Little R was really excited and took his job seriously. He wanted to see and do all that Papi did. He was great. Little A preferred playing with the soil, climbing the bench, and then climbing back down, and up again. Hijole! (phew)
:: Aprovechamos del los lindos dias calidos que tuvimos para prepararnos para este verano. Mi pequenos R y A disfrutaron mucho plantando las semillas en cajitas de huevos. Mi pequeno R tomo su trabajo muy enserio. El queria ver y hacer todo lo que Papi estaba haciendo. Lo hizo muy bien. Mi linda A prefirio jugar con la tierra, survirse y bajarse de las banca y subirse y bajarse. Hijole!

Here is a picture of some of the seeds we planted. Gotta have the chiles! What Mexican dish goes without them I ask you?!!!! Ninguno! At least not mine.
:: Aqui una foto de las semillas que plantamos. Claro que tengo que plantar chiles! Apoco hay platillo Mexicano sin chile? Ninguno! por lo menos no en mi casa. Ja.

I can't wait for the right time to transfer these to our garden and then see the veggies grow and finally enjoy, enjoy and enjoy. I'll make sure to keep you updated on my first attempt at a veggie garden. I can't wait!
:: Me muero por pasar las semillas al jardin y verlas crecer y por ultimo disfrutar de las verduras. Los tendre al tanto de mi primer intento en el jardin de verduras.

Wintery Chaos :: Desastre Invernal

Though the snow is nearly melted, we were stuck indoors for quite a while. And what happens when you are stuck at home with two little ones full of energy? This is what happens:
:: Auque ya casi toda la nieve se ha derretido, estubimos encerrados en casa por varios dias. Y que pasa cuando estas encerrada con dos nenes llenos de energia? Esto es lo que pasa:

The dress up baskests somehow get empty and all its contents spread throughout the floor. No, HOUSE!
:: Las canastas de disfraces de un de repente quedan vacías y sus contenidos derramados por todo el piso. Piso? No, por toda la CASA!

But thats o.k. because empty baskets means a whole lot of dress up. And I really enjoy seeing all the funny, cute outfits my little ones come up with.
:: Pero no importa, porque canastas vacías significa muchos disfraces. Y como me gusta ver a mis nenes con las creaciones que salen.

Every book from the bookshelves come out, and guess who gets to do most of the reading? Mami!
:: Todos los libros salen de los libreros y adivinen a quien le toca leerlos? A mami!

And little houses are built. With cute litttle-wierd looking-dress up people living in them.
:: Y casitas son construidas. Con unas personitas curiosas y chistositas viviendo en ellas.

Who knew wintery chaos could be so much fun.
:: Nunca me imagine que un desastre invernal podría ser tan divertido.

Snow White :: Blanca Nieve

We have been waiting and waiting for it to snow for some time now around here. I had already gotten use to the idea that I would not get to see little R and baby A playing in the snow. I had started washing their new spring clothes and set aside all the heavier clothes. And then it happened. Snow!!! Beautiful white snow. Everywhere! On the trees, on the roads, on the cars on the rooftops.
:: Todo el invierno hemos estado esperando y esperando que caiga nieve, y nada. Ya me había echo a la idea de que no vería a mi pequeño R y mi linda A jugar en la nieve este invierno. Ya había comenzado a lavar toda la ropa nueva para la primavera y echo a un lado la ropa mas gruesa de invierno. Y luego sucedió!! Linda blanca nieve. Por todos lados! Arriba de los arboles, las calles, los carros y los techos de las casas.




When I walked into little R's room to tell him to look out the window, he was doing just that. While looking out the window, he tells me, "mami I go outside play in snow." So after a yummy blueberry with bananas pancake breakfast, we headed out to play. While baby A stayed inside watching through the sliding door.
:: Cuando entre a la recamara de mi pequeño R para decirle que viera por la nieve por la ventana, lo encontré haciendo precisamente eso. Mientras miraba por la ventana me dice - Mami, yo salgo afuera jugar en nieve.- Y eso hicimos precisamente después de comer un rico desayuno de pancakes con blueberries y plátano. Mientras mi nena A nos miraba por la puerta corrediza.
