trying to take it slow...

So much needs to get done before Christmas day arrives, yet I am really trying to take it slow and enjoy every moment. I know that can be hard with a long "to do" list, but really...I am trying...and I think it's working.
Tenemos tanto por hacer antes de que llegue la Navidad, pero a pesar de esto estoy tratando de tomar cada día con calma y de disfrutar cada momento a lo máximo. Se que esto puede ser difícil cuando uno tiene una lista super larga de cosas por hacer, pero lo estamos intentando...y creo...esta funcionando!

Some of the crafts we've been working on (besides taking it slow- because if you think about it, slowing down is a craft one needs to learn.) is making simple Christmas cards. I decided that this year the kids (instead of just me) would work on them. And they have. Every day they work on them little by little, gluing trees, little circles as ornaments and stars. Hopefully we'll have them ready before Christmas arrives. He he. But even if we don't and they get sent out a bit late, it is the process that it is important- taking the time with the kids to work on them and they in turn feeling proud at the end for what they have accomplished.
Algunos de los proyectos en el que estamos trabajando es haciendo las tarjetas de Navidad. Este año decidí que mis nenes hicieran las tarjetas (claro con un poco de mi ayuda). Y lo han echo. Poco a poco, cada día se ponen a pegar arbolitos, círculos y estrellitas que les corte previamente . Espero estén listas antes de Navidad, pero si no lo están , no importa, lo importante es el hacerlas y mis nenes estar orgullosos de su trabajo final.


I've also been working on some gifts for family and friends. Here is a little peak of some of them...(can't say to much about them, since some do read this blog. ;))
También me la he pasado terminando unos cuantos regalitos para la familia y amigos. Aquí les enseño un poquito, pues no quiero arruinar la sorpresa para los que leen mi blog. ;)


And last night I realized that A didn't have a cute outfit for the pictures we were taking today at the Mom's Club meeting. So I made her a red corduroy skirt to match a bow I had made earlier in the day (at a bow making class I took. I am so looking forward to making more for her. I have plenty of ribbon, all I need now is to order some alligator clips and I am set. Fun!).
Por ultimo anoche me acorde que A no tenia nada navideño que usar para las fotos que les tomarían hoy día. Entonces me puse a coser una faldita de pana color rojo que se ve muy bien con el moño que le hice precisamente ayer en una clase que tome (hablando de moños- estoy super emocionada y planeo hacerle bastantes. Solo me falta ordenar los broches y listo!)



I used as a guide the directions for making a corduroy skirt in the book >Making Children's Clothe by Emma Hardy. I really like the simplicity of all her patterns for children's clothing. Both the patters and directions are easy to follow, plus she has great illustrations and I'm all about the illustrations! I am known for ditching the patterns and just figuring out how to make something by looking at the illustrations. (Kind of what I did with the skirt.)
Como guía para hacer la faldita use el libro Making Children's Clothe by Emma Hardy. Me encanta la sencillez de sus patrones de ropa para niños. Los patrones y las instrucciones son fácil de seguir y esta lleno ilustraciones, y con eso de que a mi me encanta ver las ilustraciones y no usar el patrón (como lo hice con la falda), pues este libro esta perfecto para mi.


I almost forgot to mention, I had cowboy and cowgirl visit the other day...I think they might have arrived aboard the train going around our tree. Lovely little people they are. ;)
Casi se me olvidaba contarles que el otro día me llegaron de visita un vaquero y una vaquera...parece ser que llegaron aborde de el tren que circula nuestro árbol de navidad. Muy lindas personas. ;)
