Last year I bought on clearance these plain little pumkins.  They were rather sad lookingI wanted to make them smile.

El año pasado compre en oferta estas sencillas calabazitas.  Se veían muy triste y quería hacerlas sonreír. 

I love how they turned out.  And if you look really close, I swear you can see them smile. 

Me encanta como me quedaron.  Y le juro que cuando las veo de cerca hasta las puedo ver sonreír.  

To make all you need is a craft pumpkin, washi tape, and some creativity.

Para hacerlas lo único que necesitas unas calabazitas sencillas, cinta tipo washi, y tu creatividad.

Today we ventured out to the park. It rained all day yesterday and a bit early this morning, but I didn't care. It was just one of those days, that if I did not head out...there was going to be a lot of screaming around here. (Ever had a day like that? You know, those with very little sleep? Those where your two year old decides to be up by 4 in the morning, jump in the bed with you and then not fall back asleep. Yup, and when she finally does [about two hours later], the 3 1/2 year old wakes and decides to also join you in bed? Yea, one of those days.) So we did. And I am glad. It was perfect.
Hoy nos dimos una vuelta por el parque. Aunque llovió todo el día ayer y un poco hoy en la mañana, no me importo. Pues hoy fue uno de esos días que si no salia de la casa...se oirían mucho gritos por acá. (Alguna vez te ha pasado? Tu sabes, uno de esos días con falta de dormir? Ese tipo de día que tu nena de dos añitos decide levantarse a las 4 de la mañana, meterse en tu cama y no volverse a dormir? Si, y cuando por fin lo logra [dos horas después], tu nene de 3 1/2 añitos se despierta y también se mete a la cama contigo? Si, uno de esos días.) Es que nos fuimos y que bueno, pues todo salio perfecto.

This is a brand new playground they just build near home. We are so in luck. The old one was just a tiny little thing and out in the full sun. So we hardly ever went. Most of the good ones are a drive. This one is just a few minutes away and if we really braved it we could even walk there...but there are no sidewalks in our area, so that would be a bit scary. There are trails leading to a marsh and river, there are fields that are full every evening with kids playing soccer, football, or what ever sport is in season. Tennis courts ( I can't wait for my little ones to be old enough to teach them tennis), picnic shelters and much much more. I forsee lots and lots of hours spent there in the future.
Este es un jardín de juegos que acaban de construir cerca de nuestra casa. Que suerte! Pues el viejito estaba pequeño y quedaba a pleno sol. Es que casi no íbamos. Y todos los demás parques que tienen suaves jardín de juegos quedan a bastante lejos. Este solos nos queda a unos minutos, tan cerca que si nos animamos hasta podemos caminar. Pero con eso de que no tenemos banquetas en la ciudad donde vivimos, ni me arriesgo. El parque en si tiene varias veredas que llegan hacia un rió y otras a un pantano. Hay campos deportibos que todos los días están repletos de niños jugando el deporte de la temporada, canchas de tenis (cuando los nenes estén mas grandecitos les quiero enseñar a jugar), cabañitas con mesas para comer y mucho, mucho mas. Presiento que vamos a pasar muchas pero muchas horas en ese parque en el futuro.

Well, well, well what can I say...yes, it is the middle of November, but I guess its like they say- "better late than never!" - right? You see, a blogger friend and crafty/photographer mama of mine, Maya, is having (for the second year in a row) a black and white month. Now what is that you ask? It is all about the photos! Yes, black and white photos, that is. So if you would like to join the fun, please do. It is never to late, you know. Ahem!
Que les puedo decir...si, estamos a mediados de Noviembre, pero como dicen- "mejor tarde que nunca!"-verdad? Pues les cuento que una amiga bloggera y mama super artística y buenísima para tomar fotos, esta llevando acabo (por segundo año) el mes de blanco y negro. Que quiere decir preguntas? Bueno, tiene que ver con las fotos! Si, fotos en blanco y negro. Es que si te gustaría tomar parte de la divercion y compartir con nosotros tus fotos favoritas en blanco y negro, que esperas. Nunca es muy tarde, sabes. Jeje

My plan, since the beginning of the month, was to post a black and white photo at least once a week. But it hasn't happened. Nope. So here goes my first few (Now lets just hope I can keep it up!):
Mi plan al principio de mes era de presentar una foto nueva cada semana. Pero como saben, no lo he echo. Nop. Es que a qui están mis primeras fotos. (Ahora a ver si continuo con el plan!)


Now there is just something about a fresh pot of beans. Yum!
About every two weeks you will find me and the kiddos, sorting, cleaning and baking a HUGE pot of beans. Even my hubby who is not Mexican or Latino, loves my beans!!!
Como disfruto una hoya repleta de frijoles recién cosidos. Rico!
Casi cada dos semanas nos encontraras a mis nenes y a mi en la mesa, sorteando, limpiando y por fin cosiendo una hoya GIGANTE de frijoles. Hasta a mi marido (que no es mexicano ni latino) le encanta los frijoles recién echesitos!!!!
