What girl doesn't love a colorful and fun tutu? They are perfect to let that imagination of them fly away. A tutu can transform them into a graceful ballerina. Add a tiara and walla! they are now a princess. Or some wings and now you have a beautiful fairy. So much fun!

If your little one has been hinting that she would love a tutu. Well here is your chance to make her happy. You can make a knotted tutu of your own! Now isn't that just perfect, a tutu made by mama?
Si tu pequeña ya tiene tiempo diciéndote que le encantaría tener un tutú, pues aquí tienes la oportunidad de hacerla feliz. ¡Tu puedes hacer el tutú! Un tutú echo por mama. Perfecto.
Knotted tutus are one of the simplest ones to make and very popular. Don't be scared now. It is mighty easy.
Las tutús con nudos, son unas de las mas fáciles de hacer, y también son muy popular. No tengas miedo. Son super sencillas.
What you will need:
♥ Lots and lots of tulle. The color variation is up to you.
♥ 1 1/4 inch (or thicker) elastic.
♥ Sewing machine (optional) or needle
♥ white thread
Lo que necesitas:
♥ Mucho tulle. La variación de colores depende de ti.
♥ Elástico de 1 1/4 pulgadas de ancho (o mas).
♥
Maquina de coser (opcional) o aguja para coser.
♥
hilo blanco
Cut your tulle into 9 inches wide x 27 inches long strips. Depending on the fullness you want for your tutu, it is how many strips you will need. On my tutus (which are semi full) I tend to use about 30 strips. If the thickness of the tulle is greater, then I use less.
Corta el tulle en tiras de 9 pulgadas anchas x 27 pulgadas largas. Dependiendo en que tan esponjada quieras el tutú, sera la cantidad de tiras de tulle que usaras. Para mis tutús yo normalmente uso como 30 tiras. Pero si el tulle es mas grueso uso menos.
Cut your elastic and sew together. Measure around your child's waist with the elastic, adding about an 1/2 inch more. Then sew with your tightest zigzag setting the two ends together making sure you over lap them. Another option is to hand sew following the same steps.
Cortar el elástico y coser para cerrar. Usando el elástico mide lo ancho de la cintura de tu pequeña, añade media pulgada mas. Después, junta los dos extremos (uno sobre el otro) y cose con la puntada de zigzag mas apretada. Otro opción es coser todo a mano siguiendo los mimos pasos.
The fun part! Knotting the tutu. There are two types of knots you can use and I have no idea what they are called. So bare with me as I try to explain:
¡Ahora la parte mas divertida! Haciendo los nudos para el tutú. Hay dos tipos de nudos que puedes usar y la verdad que ni idea tengo de como se llaman. Es que porfa, ten paciencia mientras trato de explicar:
Knot #1. Slip the eleastic between the folded tulle strip and simply double knot like if you were knotting your shoe laces, minus the loops. Tighten. Done. (see below for step by step photos)
Nudo #1. Simplemente amarra dos nudos sobre el elástico, como si estuvieras amarrando las cintas de zapatos (pero sin los lazos que se forman). Aprieta y listo. (ver abajo para las fotos de paso a paso)
Knot #2. Fold tulle strip in two. Grab the folded end and make a loop over the elastic, insert through the other two ends. Tighten. Done. (see below for step by step photos)
Nudo #2. Dobla la tira de tulle por la mitad sobre el elástico, agarra la parte donde esta doblada y forma un lazo, pasa los dos extremos por el lazo. Aprieta y listo. (ver abajo para las fotos con paso a paso)
After you decide what type of knot you like best (I prefer the first one), continue knotting around the elastic band until completely covered.
Después de decidir que tipo de nudo vas a usar para el tutú (a mi me gusta el primero), continua haciendo nudos alrededor del elástico hasta cubrirlo por complete.
You are done! Now was that easy or what? Of course you can finish up your tutu by adding lace, ribbon, even bows and flowers. All you need to do is follow the same knotting steps, but to add variation cut your lace or ribbon shorter than the tulle. If you decide to add flowers or bows, some more hand sewing will be involved. It is all up to you!
¡Terminaste! ¿Apoco no esta fácil de hacer? Claro que todavia puedes añadirle mas a tu tutú, como cintas de diferentes medidas, listón, moños y hasta flores. Todo lo que necesitas hacer es seguir las mismas instrucciones de los nudos, pero dale variedad cortando las cintas mas cortas que el tulle. Si decides añadirle moños o flores entonces tendrás que coser las a mano. ¡Todo depende de ti!
