spring is here

Oh yes it is!!!

The birds are chirping, the trees are blooming, there are colors everywhere.  Oh, yes!  Spring is here indeed.

I challenge you to stop for a minute, step out side and take in all the wonderful changes spring can bring.

snow!

Sunday night we went to sleep to this praying it would stick around...

Yesterday morning we woke to this:

The kids were beyond ecstatic, as I was for them.   Not too much snow, but enough to play in it for a while. We'll take what we can get. 

This year the snow has been missed a great deal.  (Darn global warming!) But for a morning, before it mostly melted away, a little one got to have some fun in it.
 

The other one stayed indoors fighting away a cold.  Until mami gave in, because after all, who knows when we'll get more snow, and let her go out to play for just a  few minutes.  Bad. Bad. Idea.  Does that make me a horrible mami?  I hope not.

Needless to say, I didn't sleep last night nursing two very sick little ones.  One fighting two ear infections and the other (my sweet nena) with apparently what they think is walking pneumonia.  Say what?!!!!  I swear she was all bundled up and only played in the snow for a few minutes!

My poor babies!

i smell apples in the air

 Oh yes indeed!

Though a little late in the season, we finally went apple picking.  A must in our family, since it is a must to make apple sauce every year.  Yum.  So we packed up a lunch and headed out to the beautiful mountains ready to pick and pick and pick.  And pick we did, now I have bags and bags of apples waiting for me to slowly simmer into apples sauce.  Yikes!  So far I've made apple crisp, and added apples chunks to everything! I don't want the apples to go to waste you know. 

While there we also enjoyed the most beautiful views.

Breathtaking I tell ya.  Don't you agree?  How I love the colors!

And really how can one be up in the mountains and not roll down the hills and do a bit of exploring?  A must, I say.

So off I go now to make us some apple sauce.  

blueberries

Last week, before they left, we took my family (visiting) blueberry picking for the first time.  They loved the experience (and ate lots of blueberries while there!)  Did you see how many we picked?  It is so nice to have so many hands (including my lovely mama's seen above) to help!

La semana pasada, antes de que se fuera mi familia que me visitaba, los lleve a recoger arándanos por primera vez.  Les encanto la experiencia y ¡como comieron arándanos! ¿Vieron cuantos recogimos? Es padre tener tantas manos (incluyendo las de mi mama preciosa, vista arriba) para ayudar.

Since,  we've made- blueberry jam, blueberry muffins, blueberry cobbler (recipe from The Pioneer Woman Cooks cookbook), and blueberry pancakes.  We froze about 1/2 a dozen bags and have eaten even more.  And this doesn't even include all the ones my family took back with them.

Desde entonces hemos preparado mermelada de arándanos, bollitos de arándanos, un cobbler de arándanos (receta del libro The Pioneer Woman Cooks), y pancakes de arándanos.  También congelamos como 1/2 docena de bolsas de arándanos, y esto no incluye todos los que nos hemos comido, ni los que se llevaron mi familia. 

Oh yes!  Blueberry season is here and we have been enjoying every bit of it.

Definitivamente ya esta aquí la temporada de arándanos y la estamos ¡disfrutando muchísimo!

Not too good.  Hasn't grown much (at all!) in the last couple of years.  We plan to transfer it to a new place during the fall and get two new little friends to join him- in hopes of growing more blueberries of our own.  Wish us luck.

Nada bien.  El pobre no ha crecido en los últimos par de años. Planeamos cambiarlo a un lugar nuevo este otoño,   y le traeremos otro dos arbolitos para que lo acompañen, a ver si así crece mas y nos da mas de un arándano.  Deséanos suerte.
