Feeling Yucky and Spanglish Baby giveaway :: Sintiendonos mal y un giveaway de Spanglishbaby

The house has been a lot quieter than usual. No running around, no screams of joy, not even arguments between my little ones. No, we are SICK. Both little R and A have had ongoing fevers since Thursday and yesterday we found out they have ear infections. This is A's first and Little R's second one in three years (I guess that is not bad considering his three). And to top it all off I have strep (my first time ever!). R has somehow managed to stay healthy though it all. At least for now. The hardest part about me being sick is not being able to give my little nenes kisses! Boy do I miss that. How do you explain to a 19 month old that mami can't give her any kisses? It just breaks my heart. But soon enough we will be well and I will be spreading kisses like there is no tomorrow. You just wait and see.
:: Se escucha mas silencio en la casa de lo normal. Nadie corriendo, no hay gritos de alegría ni de pleitos. No, porque estamos enfermos. Los dos, mi pequeño Ri y A han tenido calentura desde el Jueves y ayer nos dijeron que tenían infecciones en el oído. La pimera vez para A, y la segunda para Ri (claro que deveria de estar contenta pues es solo su segunda en tres años). Y para acabarla yo traego una infeccion en la garganta que se llama estreptococia (mi primera vez!) De alguna manera R se a salvado y esta bien de salud (hasta ahorita). La parte mas difícil de esta enfermedad es no poder darle besitos a mis nenes! Como le explico a mi nena de 19 meses que no le puedo dar besos? Me rompe el corazón. Pero se que pronto estaremos bien y no parare de dar beso tras beso. Ya verán.

A nice big bowl of lactose free vanilla ice cream, topped with fresh strawberries, yummy cajeta and these cookies I grew up eating called Maria. Seriously, does it look delicious or what? Little R, A and I sure enjoyed every bit of it!
:: Un plato grandote lleno de nieve de vainilla (sin lactosa) con fresas frescas, cajeta y galletas Maria. Apoco no se ve delicioso? Nosotros si que disfrutamos hasta la ultima gota.


Picking fresh lettuce from my garden and more hydrangeas for the house.

Watching my tomato plants fill with tomatoes. I can't wait to pick them!

Sweet Curls :: Dulce rolitos

Yey! A's hair is long enough for me to make her a braid. Her first braid. I love it! Now there is no escape, I will be making braids on her hair like crazy. I'm sure she does not appreciate it as much as mami does, she especially hates having to sit still for too long (note the photos- It was hard to keep her still long enough to take a good photo). But mami has figured out a way to keep her still. A while back I bought her these wooden Russian stacking dolls that I have on display on one of her shelves, well they come down for her to play with as I get her hair done. Her special toy. So far, it works!
By they way have I mentioned before how much I LOVE her curls. I do, I do, I do!
:: Yupi! Por fin el cabello de mi linda A esta lo suficiente largo para poderle hacer una trenza. Su primera trenzita. Me encanta! La pobre ya no tiene escape, mami se la pasara haciéndole trenzas seguido. Estoy mas que segura que a ella no le gusta tanto la idea como a mami, pues le choca quedarse quieta por mucho tiempo. Pero creo a ver encontrado a solución. Ja. Hace tiempo le compre unas muñequita Rusas (esas de las que se mete una dentro de la otra) cual tengo de decoración en su recamara, pues ahora las bajo para que A juegue con ellas mientras la peino. Su muñequita especial. Hasta ahorita ha funcionado! Por cierto, les he contado cuanto me fascinan sus rolitos. Mucho, mucho, rete-mucho!

I've been debating for a while weather to let her bangs grow out or not. What do you think? I think I will give it a try and see how it looks by the time my baby sister's wedding comes along. A is going to be one of the little flower girls. She's gotta look beautiful, you know. She will. My bebita (baby) will.
:: Ya tengo tiempo pensando si dejarle crecer su tupe o no. Como lo ven? Yo creo que si. Y veo cuanto le crece de aquí a la boda de mi hermana menor. A va ser una de las damitas que cargan las flores. Tiene que verse linda. Mi bebita severa linda, lo se.

We love you Papi :: Te Queremos Papi

Our weekends are usually filled with visiting family and friends, creating, playing, going to church and so on. This weekend was no exception. It was a fun filled weekend.
:: Nuestros fines de semana normalmente están llenos de muchas actividades. Visitamos a familia o amigos, creamos, jugamos, y vamos a la iglesia. Este fin de semana no fue la excepción. Fue un lindo fin de semana.

Because big R has been working like crazy, we decided to stay in on Saturday and just relax. But as you know "relax" with two little ones in not really "relax". So we made a fun and colorful streamer (for our Father's Day decorations) out of empty toilet paper rolls, poster paints and ribbon. Little R really enjoyed getting his hands full of paint. He loves to paint! Both he and A also made some art pieces for papi. We used some old cardboard box scraps and dried macaroni pasta. The end result- fantastic!
:: Porque R el grande últimamente ha estado trabajando mucho decidimos que este Sábado nos quedaríamos en casa a relajar. Pero como ya saben cuando uno tiene pequeñitos, la palabra -relajar- no tiene el mismo significado. Pues nos pasamos el día creando arreglos para el día del Padre. Construimos una guirnalda con los rollitos del papel del baño, pintura para posters y listón. Al pequeño R como le gusta pintar y llenarse sus manitas de pintura. También el y su A le pintaron, e hicieron unos cuadritos a papa con unos pedazos de cartón y pasta seca de macarrón. El resultado- Fantástico!

On Sunday while Papi volunteered at a car show, Little R, A and I got the house ready for papi's surprise. We put up streamers, a large balloon (that really was more for the kids than papi) and placed his gifts just at the right spot so that when he came in the house he would be surprised. And he was. Later in the day Nana and Grandpa arrived and we spend a nice cool afternoon grilling out and playing with the kids. Then we ended our day eating a delicious strawberry pie that Nana made.
:: El domingo mientras Papi estaba ayudando como voluntario en un show de carros, nosotros preparamos la casa para sorprenderlo. Colgamos las guirnaldas, un globo grande (cual la verdad compre as para la divercion de los niños que papi) y colocamos los regalos en el lugar perfecto para a si cuando papi entrara a la casa se sorprendiera. Y eso fue exactamente lo que paso. Después por la tarde llegaron Nana y Grandpa (los abuelitos paternos) y nos pasamos la tarde afuera disfrutando de una parrillada y después de un rico pie de fresa que preparo Nana.











It was a nice weekend indeed.

Ah, I somehow also managed to squeeze some time in there to make a tutu for one R's and A's little friend. She loved it and so did her big sister who asked for me to make her one. "For your birthday, " I promised.
Ah también de alguna manera tuve tiempo de coser otro regalito mas para una amigita de R y A. Le encanto su faldita de bailarina. Ahora su hermana mayor quiere que le cosa una. Para su cumple, le prometí.

Weekend Sewing and more:: Un fin desemana cosiendo y mas

It was a lovely weekend indeed, including the weather. I started off Saturday morning by making an art apron for one of little R's friend. And later in the day we headed off to the birthday party that was heald by a lake. It was perfect. The kids played in the huge sand box, walked on the mini boardwalk and ate some yummy birthday cupcakes.
:: Nos pasamos un fin de semana agradable. Hasta el clima estaba agradable. Empece el sábado por la mañana cosiendo un mandil de arte para un amigito de mi pequeño R. Y después mas tarde nos fuimos a la fiesta de cumpleaños, cual fue a la orilla de un lago precioso. Estaba perfecto. Los niños jugaron en una área de arena super grande, caminaron a la orilla del lago y comieron unos ricos pastelitos de cumpleaños.

Sunday was dedicated again solely to yard work. R put up a fence to separate the back part of the yard and keep Kaya (our lab/shepperd mix dog) away from the veggie garden. Though she does not eat the plants, she sure loves to run around and over them. Not good.
:: El domingo lo dedicamos otra vez al jardín. R puso una cerca para dividir la parte trasera del jardín y no dejar pasar a Kaya (nuestra perra) al jardín de verduras, pues aunque no se come las plantas si le gusta mucho correr y brincar sobre el jardín.

Today is a rainy, rainy day. Though I have tones of errand to make, I think we are staying in. Instead I plan to catch up on some chores around the house and maybe even start sewing a new birthday gift (lot's of birthday's this month!).
:: Hoy es un día lluvioso. Tenia que salir, pero creo que mejor nos quedamos en casa y hago algunos quiaceres que necesitaba hacer, como empezar a coser otro regalito (hay muchos cumples este mes).

I used some vintage fabric I found at a Goodwill a while back. Aren't the hippos adorable?
:: Use una tela "vintage" que compre hace tiempo en una tienda de segunda. Apoco no están super curiosos los hipopótamos?




Little R helped me make the birthday card. We took some scrap paper. Little R colored it with colored pencils and then I finished it with wrapping paper scraps.
:: Mi pequeño R me ayudo con la tarjeta de Cumpleaños. Usamos un pedazo de papel que teníamos por ahi, después mi peque la colorió y luego yo la termine añadiendo unos detallitos con pedazos de papel para envolver que nos quedo.











Aren't they lovely? My hydrangea bush did just wonderfyl this year. I've cut a few and placed them around the house. I love them!
:: No están preciosas? Mi arbusto de hortensias floreció precioso esta primavera. Corte unas cuantas y las he puesto por diferentes partes de mi casa para disfrutarlas mas. Me fascinan!

Blueberries, no more:: Arandanos azules no mas

I had this great post pictured in my head ready to talk about how excited I was that my blueberry bush actually had a handful of blueberries. How we had been trying for the past three years to have some fresh blueberries and how every year we would forget to cover the bushes on time and zoom, the birds would eat every single blueberry before I could even enjoy looking at them. And so this year we were able to rescue one bush before the birds chirped away happily with our berries. And I would then show you my wonderful picture of my sweet blueberry bush with BERRIES on it. And well...
:: Ya tenia en mi mente planeado como les contaría de lo contenta que estaba de que mi arbusto de arándanos azules tenia unos cuantos arándanos ya casi listos para comer. Y como desde hace tres años se nos olvidaba tapar los arbustos antes de que los pájaros llegaran a comerse cada bolita. Y como, este año si nos acordamos de tapar los arbustos casi a tiempo; y como si pudimos salvar uno antes de que los pajarillos nos ganaran. Y luego les enseañria mi arbusto con sus arandanos casi azules y listos. Y luego...



...Today I excitedly stepped out to show my mother-in-law how we were able to rescue one bush and soon would be enjoying a few, but delicious blueberries and then I saw it. THEY WERE GONE! How the heck did those darn birds get to my sweet, sweet blue berries?!
:: ....Hoy salí contentisima al jardín para enseñarle a mis suegra mi arbusto listo con su arándanos para saborear, cuando lo vi. NO AVÍA NINGUNO! Como mentado se pudieron comer mis deliciosos arándanos esos pájaros?!

Sweet blueberries no more. One more year to wait and see if I can think faster than those darn birds. Oh, such a love-hate relationship with those birds right now.
:: Deliciosas y dulce arándanos no mas. Un año mas para esperar y ganarle a esos listos pajaritos. Hay, hay, hay ahorita no estoy nada de contenta con los pajaritos de mi jardín.

Our Garden :: Nuestro Jardin

After being gone for about four weeks I was excited to find so many great things in my garden. Before I left it looked like this:
:: Después de estar de viaje por casi cuatro semanas llegue a casa a encontrar nuestro jardín de verduras repleto de plantitas. Antes de irme se veía a si:

It's amazing how fast it has grown. Including weeds. Oh, yes, lots of them! We dedicated all Sunday afternoon in weeding out the garden. Even the little ones joined in. They loved it! And I, hated the allergies, but survived and the outcome is great. I can't wait till we get fresh veggies out of our own garden! So awesome!
:: Es increíble cuanto a crecido. Incluyendo las yerbas. Hay si, muchísimas! Nos dedicamos toda la tarde del Domingo en jalar todas las yerbas del jardín. Hasta los nenes nos ayudaron y como les gusto. Espero con ansias el día que este repleto de verduras listas para comer.






Little R was so excited while we were were weeding. He kept on asking if he could eat some of the plants. I finally gave in and pulled some fresh lettuce (still young, but ready to eat) and both he and A loved eating it.
:: Mientras limpiavamos el jardín, mi peque R me seguía pidiendo comer de las plantas. Por fin me di por vencida y jale poca lechuga (aunque un poco tierna, pero si se podía comer), se las di a los peques y ellos fascinados. Le gusto mucho.


As you can see we planted lots and lots of tomatoes plants. Some roma and some (what I call) plump sandwich tomatoes. I am going to have to learn how to can! Yup, I sure am. Any tips anyone? I'll take them all!
:: Como pueden ver plantamos muchos, pero muchísimas plantas de tomates. Algunas de Roma y otras (a las que yo les llamo) tomates gorditos para sándwich. Definitivamente tendré que aprender a enlatar tomates. Sip, que si! Algunas sugerencias? Todas son bienvenidas!

I can't wait to make lots of spagetti sauce, different type of Mexican salsitas (salsas) and also dry some of them. Lots to look forward to.
:: Pronto estare preparando salsa para espagetti, differentes tipos de salsitas mexicanas y tambien planeo secar unos cuantos tomates. Que padre!
